SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

 

ELECTRICITY GENERATING WINDMILLWITH SOLAR PANEL ARRAY

 

 

PURPOSE

Provide electrical power from wind and sunlight energy to supplement power to a residential house and power to a battery back up system.

 

WINDMILL OPERATION & OUTPUT

The windmill is a typical propeller driven generator.

Generators

The electricity generation system is completely unique in that it consists of 2 AC generators driven simultaneously with an rpm increasing gearbelt drive. The drive multiplies the generators rpm by a factor of 6:1. One AC generator is wired ‘D’ phase for high current and the other generator is wired ‘Y’ phase for high voltage. The AC outputs of both generators are rectified and combined into a single DC output.

 

SOLAR PANELS

The solar panels generate DC current and introduce the current in-line with the windmill generators current through blocking diodes.

 

PROPELLER

The propeller is a special 24 blade design, all aluminum with high wind supports.

 

BRAKE SYSTEM

The brake system is designed as an emergency stop to prevent rotation of the propeller during very high winds. The brake system applies automotive type shoe brakes to a drum that is fixed to the propeller shaft. It is operated manually by a lever located at the bottom of the windmill tower or from inside a house. When the lever is pulled to the catch position, the windmill head will rotate, from the wind blowing it, around to a hole that allows the brake pin to go though the head base, stop the head rotation, actuate the brake shoes, and stop the rotation of the propeller.

 

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The electrical system is designed for dual windmill generator and solar panel current input. The input is controlled and regulated to provide DC power to a back-up battery system and/or provide AC power directly to the house and reduce the electrical consumption from the power grid.

 

WHY THIS WINDMILL SYSTEM IS UNIQUE

There is no other electricity generating windmill that utilizes 2 generators, a speed increasing drive, a mechanical braking system, dual windmill, and solar panel input, heavy duty design with massive bearings, a solid aluminum propeller shaft, and a maintenance/rain cover, and a ladder tower.
